Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial championship after the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

The win also means the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my children at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an better serve.

He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the last five points to take the lead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

He rescued 4 initial break points in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he secured victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
